DISCUSSION WITH - Speaker Dr. Tamara Lorincz, on Canada's military budget and impacts on Canada's northern & Indigenous communities
Dr. Tamara Lorincz will speak about her research on the climate and environmental impacts of militarism and war. She recently completed her PhD at the Balsillie School of International Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University. The title of her dissertation is "In the Line of Fire: Military Emissions, the National Security Exemption and NATO Expansion in Climate Governance." She has a Masters in International Politics & Security Studies and a Law degree and MBA specializing in environmental law and management. Lorincz has attended several climate summits to promote "Demilitarization for Decarbonization" and "Peace for Climate Justice." She's a long-time environmentalist, feminist and peace activist. She is also a member and researcher with the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom-Canada, and a fellow with the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute.
