In-Person Event
📅 Saturday, July 4th, 2026

⏰ 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m

📍 366 Victoria Ave N, Hamilton, ON

💵 $30-50 food, event & fundraiser

Join us for an evening rooted in connecting our struggles and uniting in the fight for justice and freedom for all. Funds raised for this event will go directly to Gazan medical students.

Each ticket gets you access to:

MEZZE: A selection of Palestinian and other West Asian/Middle Eastern food for all attendees.

RAFFLE: Great prizes! You can buy your tickets on site at the event.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Tamara Lorincz will be speaking after the film. She is a long-time member, advocate, and senior researcher with the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW), and the Women's International League for Peace & Freedom-Canada (WILPF). Dr. Lorincz is featured in the 2025 documentary film, Earth's Greatest Enemy. FILM SCREENING: Earth’s Greatest Enemy, the second feature film project by Abby Martin, is a groundbreaking anti-imperialist environmental documentary. Exempt from international climate agreements and rarely scrutinized in mainstream reporting, the Pentagon is the world’s single largest institutional polluter, spewing carbon, contaminating water, and scarring landscapes across the globe. Combining investigative journalism, striking visuals, and stories from impacted communities, this film challenges audiences to rethink the hidden costs of a global military empire and its planetary consequences. Provocative, urgent, and eye-opening, this is a documentary that will change how you see both the military and environmentalism. FUNDRAISING: Support Gaza's Medical Students: Doctors and medical workers in Gaza have been targeted as part of a campaign to prevent Palestinians from keeping their people alive. Every university in Gaza has been destroyed. Medical education inside Gaza has been systematically erased. In this context of scholasticide, the education of Palestinian doctors becomes a collective responsibility.

Please get your tickets & give today! Organized by many groups including Burlington4Palestine, Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War & many more and endorsed by the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom-Canada.

Political Education – Canada Out of NATO Now! w/ Owen Schalk & Tamara Lorincz

Virtual Event
📅 Wednesday, July 8th, 2026

⏰ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm ET

📍 Zoom

Join us July 8th, 2026 at 3:30pm PT/6:30pm ET with author Owen Schalk and scholar-activist Tamara Lorincz to discuss the history of NATO and why Canada must leave it.

For decades, Canadian governments have aligned closely with NATO interventions, military procurement programs, and U.S.-led security strategies. Supporters argue the alliance is defensive and provides security and stability. Alternatively, we know that NATO has instigated and expanded conflict, undermined diplomacy, fueled arms races, and tied Canada to wars and geopolitical confrontations that do not serve the interests of Canadians.

Please donate to VOW’s campaign to Cut Military Spending

The Liberal government has just launched the country's first Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) that will ramp up military spending, weapons production, and arms exports. Canada is set to increase military spending to $150 billion/year by 2025 to reach the NATO 5% GDP target, but this will lead to greater poverty and climate breakdown. VOW opposes the federal government's plan for a warfare economy; and calls for Canada to have a green, care economy!

Read the new Defence Industrial Strategy: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/corporate/reports-publications/industrial-strategy/security-sovereignty-prosperity.html

VOW bought banners: "Cut Military Spending: Let's Fund a Care Economy, Climate Action & Indigenous Reconciliation" and we are building a national campaign to raise awareness about risks of higher military spending and to stop it.

Please contact your Member of Parliament and let them know you oppose the Defence Industrial Strategy and the increase to military spending:

Puerto Rico has long been used as a training base and launching point for U.S. military operations. This legacy has left behind contaminated land, polluted groundwater, and serious multigenerational public health impacts. Through decades of activism and grassroots organizing, residents achieved major victories, including successfully driving the U.S. Navy out of Vieques. Today, however, we are seeing renewed militarization there under the Trump Administration. Carlos Cardona will share his personal perspective while discussing the current challenges, ongoing resistance movements, and the broader impact on Puerto Rican communities.

    Toronto, ON

Co-produced with Level Ground Productions, this film tells the story of how the United States came to wield so much power over Canada over the last 50 years – and what it might mean to really reclaim sovereignty.

In this time of trade wars and oil price shocks, this film aims to show Canadians how the rise of U.S. influence, the growth of neoliberalism, and our structural dependence on fossil fuels are part of the same underlying story: the stranglehold of corporations over our democracy. We have been working on this project for the last two years, and we are very excited to finally bring it into the world – especially at this current political moment. The event will include a screening followed by a 30 minute panel discussion. Panelists will include Chase Joynt (director, and founder of Level Ground), Jesse Wente (narrator, and prominent Anishinaabe writer and critic), and Jennifer Abbott (story editor, and Sundance award-winning director of "The Corporation").

Report launch online. Rocket launches for both military and civil purposes have rapidly increased over recent years as costs have fallen and this is driving a new ‘race for space’.  Commercial companies and government sectors are keen to capitalise on the economic and strategic advantages offered by the exploitation of space and the space sector too is undergoing rapid transformation as it moves from being government-led to funded by wealthy entrepreneurs and private companies. To coincide with the opening of a three-month window for the first space launch from UK soil on 1st July, Space Watch UK is publishing a new report: ‘Waste of Space: The Environmental Cost of Human Activities in Space’

Political Education – Canadian Mythology w/ Richard Sanders and Yves Engler

Virtual Event
📅 Wednesday, July 1st, 2026

⏰ 3:30pm PT/6:30pm ET

📍 Zoom

Join us Canada Day – July 1st 2026 at 3:30pm PT/6:30pm ET with Yves Engler as we break down the popular myth of Canadian peacekeepers.

Yves Engler is a Montréal-based activist and author who has published 13 books including his latest Canada’s Long Fight Against Democracy (co-authored with Owen Schalk).

Richard Sanders is an anti-war activist and writer in Canada. In 1984, he received an MA in cultural anthropology and began working to expose Canada’s complicity in U.S.-led wars. In 1989, he founded the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT), which led to a 20-year municipal ban on Ottawa’s arms bazaars. He continues to produce COAT’s publication, Press for Conversion! Its latest issues examine how Canadians are captivated by state myths: * Captive Canada: Renditions of the Peaceable Kingdom at war, from narratives of WWI and the Red Scare to the mass internment of civilians; * Fictive Canada: Indigenous slaves and the captivating narratives of a mythic nation; * Cold War Canada: Ongoing state support for East European émigré groups with deep, fascist roots. He is writing a book (for Baraka Books) on Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s prime minister in waiting, which details her grooming as a Liberal war hawk in the Pearsonian tradition. His research has revealed that Freeland began her journalism career with pro-fascist Ukrainian-Canadian publications for which her grandfather—the Nazi’s top Ukrainian-language news propagandist—also worked.

Tune in this July to learn about efforts to strengthen peace, oppose further military expansion, and support a sustainable, nuclear-free Pacific! For many communities across the Pacific, 2026 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) military exercises scheduled for 24 June - 31 July represent a continued expansion of militarization in the region. These large-scale war exercises heighten regional tensions, increase the risk of conflict, and divert resources away from addressing the urgent social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the region. Fifth Annual 24-Hour Peace Wave

Virtual Event

The Fifth Annual 24-Hour Peace Wave remains a 24-hour-long Zoom featuring peace actions in the streets and squares of the world, moving around the globe with the sun. But participants will have until November 1, 2026, to submit videos of peace activism, filmed at any time in the first 10 months of 2026.

We will then compile the videos into 24 videos of 40 minutes each. We will then announce the date of a Zoom webinar that will have 40 minutes of video and 20 of introduction and live discussion (including your questions) every hour for 24 hours.

Have you done any pro-peace or antiwar activities already in 2026 that you have good video of? Let us know!

Are you planning any activities between now and October 31 that you can make video of? Let us know!

We're looking for good quality videos of events and activities, ideally in landscape (horizontal) format, and showing any sort of peace activism other than sitting at a desk and talking to a camera (rallies, demonstrations. concerts, banner-drops, mural painting, etc.)

#NOWAR2026 CONFERENCE: BEYOND BORDERS

A Global Online Conference Unpacking How the War System Drives Displacement & Militarizes Borders

Virtual Event

🗓 Friday, October 23 - Sunday, October 25, 2026

📍 Zoom

Join us on October 23-25 for #NoWar2026: Beyond Borders, World BEYOND War’s annual global conference hosted on Zoom.

War and militarism drive people from their homes, causing mass displacement. And the very same weapons companies profiting from war and conflict cash in when governments militarize borders and block the movement of people fleeing violence. Throughout three days of panels, workshops, and breakout rooms, the #NoWar2026 Conference will examine the interconnections of the war system, migration, and the border industry, with case studies from around the world.

#NoWar2026 will create a space for global dialogue among activists, organizers, researchers, and educators to share lived experiences, learn from each other, and strategize for a world beyond the violence of both war and borders.

New Report! How Canadian Universities Support Israel’s Crimes Through Investments, Partnerships, Donor Funds, and Anti-Palestinian Racism

Send a Letter

This report builds on existing documentation of ways that Canadian universities materially, politically, and ideologically support Israel’s Crimes, and describes some of the pro-Israel groups that are trying to influence the Canadian post-secondary landscape. We hope to help build awareness of how universities in Canada support Israel’s Crimes.2 We believe Canadian universities can and must become more responsible and accountable. In this report we identify ways they can disentangle themselves from their current complicity.

Friends don’t let friends fund apartheid: Stop JNF Canada’s attempt to evade CRA revocation

Send a Letter

On September 2, 2025, JNF Canada announced their “friends” agreed to “dedicate their charity to carrying out similar work” to JNF Canada, and “have appropriately renamed it, Friends of JNF Canada” [emphasis in original].

It is clear that this “new” organization, Friends of JNF Canada (F-JNFC), is simply a burner charity that allows a revoked Canadian charitable organization to continue and funnel money to Israel. This is evident, for example, by the fact that F-JNFC’s address is simply the same address as JNF Toronto.

We demand the CRA:

  1. Immediate refusal of charitable status for Friends of JNF Canada
  2. Revocation of Benzimra Foundation’s charitable status
  3. A full-scale audit of Canadian charities funneling funds to Israeli apartheid, military operations, and illegal settlements in violation of Canadian law

InterPares-War Crimes in Sudan: Canada must act NOW

Send a Letter

Canada must break its silence about the U.A.E.’s support to the RSF militia.

The war in Sudan has shredded the fabric of life for millions of people: displacement, sexual violence, forced starvation, executions, kidnappings and the wholesale devastation of infrastructure.

Canada’s response has been slow and piecemeal—we can and must do more.

Send a letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand now and demand Canada take immediate action in two ways:

  • Canada must prioritize human life in Sudan over the pursuit of blood money in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and exert pressure on the U.A.E. to stop aiding and abetting war crimes in Sudan.
  • Make Sudan a priority: appoint a Special Envoy to coordinate Canada’s engagement and action in this conflict.

Divesting from Israeli Occupation, Apartheid, and Genocide

Just Peace Advocates: New Report

We are grateful to be releasing a brand new report analyzing the investments of more than 100 Canadian financial institutions. This analysis reveals over $526 billion USD invested in complicit companies by pensions, banks, insurance companies, and other investment managers. It is clear that the Canadian financial sector and Canadian economy are deeply invested (figuratively and literally) in Israel’s illegal military occupation, apartheid regime, and genocidal settler colonial project. It is (past) time to divest from companies supporting Israel’s crimes.

Learn about your investments, whether personal, through your bank, or pension plan. You can view the PDF version or read a text only version by clicking the button below.

READ THE REPORT HERE

Our recent report, “Divesting from Israeli Occupation, Apartheid, and Genocide” provides the analysis of more than 100 Canadian financial institutions. This includes 11 pensions, 8 banks, 7 insurers, and 85 investment managers. Each of these financial actors play a significant role in Canada’s own settler colonial project, as well as the exploitation and colonization of lands and peoples globally. The report revealed over $526 billion USD invested in complicit companies.

To put the report into action, we have developed a resource guide. This document provides letter templates to send to your financial institutions, things to think about when considering alternatives, frequently asked questions, and additional resources. At a time of a housing crisis, hosting the DSRB headquarters is guaranteed to drive up the cost of living dramatically. We reject Canada’s commitment to profiteering from perpetual war in the guise of economic development. We say NO to the war bank being headquartered in Canada.

The DSRB will funnel public funds directly to arms manufacturers, ensuring massive military build-up for 35 to 40 countries. It will make it easier to bypass regulations and public opposition to Canada’s military support for genocide and repressive regimes.

Manifesto: No to Global NATO – Yes to Common Security

Sign Up to Join the Call

NATO is an increasing obstacle to achieving world peace. It is no longer an organization confined to the North Atlantic: it is the world's largest military alliance, with allies and partners in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Since the end of the Cold War, NATO has reinvented itself as a tool for military action, psychological warfare, worldwide military and political interventions, and accessing resources and markets; it often claims to undertake these actions on behalf of the "international community". With its partnerships and joint operations, it is a vehicle for the US strategic goal of global dominance; reinforced by military bases on all continents, it bypasses the United Nations and the system of international law, accelerating militarization, escalating arms expenditures and fueling arms races.

We call on all peoples to join the fight against Global NATO, to build on our vision of peace, and to resist the dangerous militarization of our societies.

No to War – No to NATO network

Shut Down the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association (CANA)!

Send a Letter

NATO interventions have led to failed states, environmental and climate damage, violence against women, and humanity’s largest refugee crisis. NATO allies have wasted trillions on wars and carbon-intensive weapons, enriching the (mainly US) arms industry while exacerbating conflict around the world. To conduct imperialist wars, occupations, covert and overt military operations and crippling sanctions, NATO is the tool that imperialist countries use to manage their war-mongering division of labour.

Rather than re-forming a new CANA, as required following the recent federal election, the Canada-Wide Peace and Justice Network, calls for shutting down the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association altogether, and for Canada to withdraw from NATO.

International Day of Cooperatives

July 6th, 2026

PURPOSE: The International Day of Cooperatives is observed every year on the first saturday of July. The aim of #CoopsDay is to increase awareness of cooperatives and promote the movement’s ideas of international solidarity, economic efficiency, equality, and world peace. Cooperatives represent at least 12% of people on earth who are members of any of the 3 million cooperatives worldwide. They play an important role in addressing the needs of their members and communities and in the process, they contribute towards the implementation of the SDGs. Cooperatives operate in every sector of the economy worldwide—agriculture, finance, housing, health and care, education, energy, retail, industry and services —and have consistently demonstrated their ability to advance social justice, economic democracy, and ecological sustainability while offering efficient, innovative and inclusive solutions to community needs. Through #CoopsDay, local, national and global policymakers, civil-society organisations and the public in general can learn about the contribution of cooperatives to a just future for all.

Those promises went unfulfilled for decades. A Mediator's Eye View: Essays on War, Peace and Shared Humanity by Sarah Campbell

An investigation of Canada's role in global conflict and a vision for a way forward. Order a copy today: Essays on war, peace and shared humanity.

Born and raised in Vancouver BC, Sally’s activism awakened while living in the US during Vietnam War. Returning to Canada as a culture-blind lawyer in 1975, she began her re-education on Indigenous ways of being, and the learning continues. Mediation and restorative practices envision a worldview that works for everyone, and it is not hard to extrapolate from the interpersonal realm of conflict to a global perspective. This collection of essays helps us make sense of conflict––both local and global––and imagine ways forward.
