The conference will feature panels, workshops and opportunities to strategize together. Here's a quick run-down of what's in store: On Friday, June 16th at 6pm, you'll be treated to dinner, followed by our keynote panel, "Winning Hearts and Minds for Justice in Palestine: Strategies for Building the Movement", featuring Maryland-based author-activist Mitchell Plitnick, sociology professor & Palestinian-Canadian pundit Mark Ayyash and filmmaker b.h. Yael, moderated by Winnipeg Centre MP Leah Gazan. On Saturday morning, we'll hear a report from the ground in Israel-Palestine from +972 Magazine's Edo Konrad and Amjad Iraqi, followed by a panel "Fighting antisemitism alongside other forms of racism" with anti-racist writer Desmond Cole, legal academic and writer Azeezah Kanji, writer and activist Joy Henderson, Shatha Mahmoud of the Palestinian Youth Movement, IJV's Sheryl Nestel and Deb Cowan of the Jewish Faculty Network. After lunch on Saturday, Toronto Star columnist Shree Paradkar, CJPME Vice-President Michael Bueckert, legendary journalist Michele Landsberg and journalist/producer Pacinthe Mattar will join the panel "Canadian Media: Problems and Possibilities".
Also on Saturday, there will be about a dozen strategizing workshops to choose from, including with panelists such as Desmond Cole, on a variety of topics such as Fighting anti-Palestinian Racism and the Weaponization of Antisemitism and The Abraham Accords: How to engage with a false peace.
Finally, Saturday evening there will be a concert and celebration featuring featuring multi-generational Arab women’s drum and vocal ensemble, Tabiba, and the UJPO Pop-up Klezmer band! Tickets sold separately here.
